Cushion cut center stone engagement ring designs

A few of our favorite engagement rings with cushion cut center stones

Updated September 15, 2022

Whether you’re a lover of traditional engagement ring designs, on the edge of a little more daring, or even a complete rebel, you can’t go wrong with a cushion cut center stone. The softly rounded shape is wildly popular due to its versatility and outstanding sparkle. While there is a long list of celebs who have opted for the opulence of cushion cut engagement rings (think Meghan Markle, Priyanka Chopra, Karlie Kloss, and Sofia Vergara) our favorites will always be the ones envisioned by and created one-of-a-kind for our customers.

1

Our first cushion cut engagement ring purrs with sumptuous, vintage luxury. We love the timeless combination of yellow gold and diamond accents paired with the deep red Mozambique garnet center stone. The vintage inspired halo and the embellished band enhance the pillowy feel of the cushion cut stone, taking us back to a time of blissful decadence.

If there was ever a jeweler's match made in heaven, it would have to be a cushion cut diamond with a diamond halo, and this engagement ring is the perfect example of that stunning combination. This lucky bride-to-be loves bluish hues and burgundy, so the diamond-encrusted split band flows up and around aquamarine accent stones and a peekaboo garnet accent is hidden in the gallery.

3

Shhhh, do you want to know a secret? If you turn a cushion cut square so the corners sit at the top and bottom of the ring, you get a kite setting! Not to be confused with a kite shaped center stone, this is all about the setting and rotating a stone 45 degrees from the way it’s traditionally set. This creative setting naturally allows the white gold climbing roses to grow up and around the cushion cut aquamarine. The whole engagement ring comes to life before your eyes.

Let’s take a step back in time with this fabulous Art Deco inspired amethyst engagement ring. The brightly colored cushion cut center stone is lavishly framed by a bold yellow gold bezel and a floating diamond halo. The vintage design is finished off with a chunky geometric band and two striking diamond accents atop the shoulders.

His words were “she is perfect for me so I want the perfect ring for her.” And we definitely think this loved-up soon-to-be groom found the perfect ring for his fiancé. The rectangular salt and pepper diamond cushion is the picture of perfection surrounded by a unique half-and-half halo that brings together the traditional and sunburst halo styles.

Our next groom-to-be began the design process with many options for the center stone shape but ultimately chose an eye-catching cushion cut diamond. Wanting to bring his and his love’s birthstones together, he came away with this stunning tricolor engagement ring. The diamond center stone is flanked by a peridot on one side and aquamarine on the other, and diamond accents run down the shoulders of the white gold band.

A cushion cut stone may walk the line of traditional but that definitely doesn’t mean it is boring! The arrestingly angular design of this open, twisting rose gold band (and don't forget the matching wedding band!) intensifies the geometry of the cushion cut Mozambique garnet center stone. Diamond accents throughout both bands add even more glamor to this gorgeous bridal set.

Our final cushion cut center stone engagement ring is all about nature. Our couple’s inspiration was a floral design with animal details: the perfect fit for this sunny citrine center stone. Our designers set the cushion cut orange-yellow stone with eight prongs, corresponding to eight white gold petals in a floral halo. The yellow gold band was completed with a honey bee sitting on either shoulder. Nature’s love!
