Modern-industrial describes a style that pairs natural materials, mainly steel and wood, with design flair, excellent craftsmanship and and a finely accented finish. Industrial chic, more like. The result is functional art. The textural quality of the materials retain their honest, often-raw look as part of the character they lend the piece.

So it is with this table - its legs are steel beams which have been wire-brushed down to effect a smooth finish on natural oxidation ; they are accented by forged-steel spheres from a foundry in Baltimore; the table-top is a highly-finished slab of Maple which bears a beautifully arching burl at one end. The metal is finished with a linseed-oil extract that adds luster and fixes its naturally deep patina.

Sure it's a table, but I view this piece as a sculpture in its own right.
