We love building tables. After a few challenging cabinetry projects it is relaxing to build a table. Tables are pretty straightforward; sure one can produce an intricate top design using multiple species of wood, or carve massive pedastels. There are always exceptions of course. We built a table for someone who wanted a 4 ft. by 8 ft. top with pedestal legs 14” square, carved into a bulbous configuration, out of douglas fir. We began shaping the legs with a chainsaw, not your every day carving tool. It was an arduous task, but the table became a conversation piece at every dinner party this customer gave.
