Hand Carved Capitals
These capitals, carved out of basswood, painted and gilded, are quite large. They measure 32 inches wide by 29 inches in height. They are found in the main Cathedral in the Diocese of Allentown. Many styles and sizes of these as well as other Architectural details are carved regularly at the Woodworking Studio. A variety of brackets, corbels, mouldings are done to the standards and styles found throughout the centuries. Whatever size or style you or your Architect are interested in can be created to suite your particular requirements.
The scrolled Acanthus leaf and shell and the matching bracket are but just two examples of many ideas found on our website. These are carved basswood and are simply a wonderful accent to enhance your surroundings with a bit of old world charm and elegance. They bring an otherwise ordinary archway into the extraordinary.
The Woodworking Studio works with Architects, Designers, Churches as well as private homeowners. The scope of the work includes the design and hand carved execution of brackets, corbels, capitals, mantles, rangehoods and mouldings.
